This piece showcases Bass Harbor Light Station, as it stands perched upon the southwest corner of Mount Desert Island. Erected in 1876, this light station has withstood the strength of Maine waters for almost 150 years, guiding ships to the entrance of Bass Harbor and Blue Hill Bay. After visiting in late summer of 2025, Sarette was inspired to bring this memory to the canvas. Depicting the prominent lighthouse and the shoreline it overlooks, “Bass Harbor Light” adds to the many coastal paintings of Sarette’s portfolio. Bass Harbor Light Station continues to draw lighthouse enthusiasts to its beautiful corner of Acadia National Park, and the rugged coast reminds visitors of its importance, even in the modern day.
