“You are who you choose to be”

My name is Toby Sarette and I am a recreational artist based out of Portland, Maine. Born and raised in Bedford, NH, I moved to Maine to attend college in 2019. In 2020, I moved into a small town firehouse where I ran fire and EMS calls while completing paramedic school and the fire academy. After college, I became a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic for the City of Westbrook, Maine where I currently continue my journey in the Maine fire service.

While not on shift or painting, I enjoy being outside running, hiking, kayaking, and riding my motorcycle. I also enjoy playing soccer and tennis. I currently reside in Portland with my girlfriend Lily and my tuxedo cat, Parker.

Inspiration for my paintings comes from what I see whether I am traveling, working, or just an idea that pops into my mind. The process of taking a blank canvas and depicting an expressive view of buildings, nature, and objects is the true takeaway of my art. Each completed piece holds its own story; from the seed of the idea, the early stages, and the final details that bring the painting to life. I thank you for viewing my work and I look forward to the next year of adding to my portfolio!
